  • This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Gemma Sharp is a Clinical Psychology PhD candidate at Flinders University in Adelaide, South Australia. She is in the final stages of her PhD and will soon also have registration as a general psychologist. She has been involved in body image research for a number of years, but has focused exclusively on labiaplasty since the start of her PhD in 2013. She is particularly interested in the role of sociocultural factors like the media in the growing demand for labiaplasty and also the psychological outcomes of this surgery. In her clinical psychology training, she has provided therapy to individuals with body image concerns and eating disorders. In the future she hopes to use both her research and clinical practice skills to provide therapy to women who are concerned with their genital appearance.
